Greatly appreciate the kind welcome, was in the process of making an introduction thread then saw this one so i guess i'll just introduce my self on this one.. Well first off i have been subscribed to the XJ talk youtube channel for what seems like a year or so.. I came from what seems like a life long of building drift cars and performance related vehicles .. mostly Drift and AutoX. But somehow reverted to my roots of growing up in the country and just " living off the land" type mentality that my father raised me with.. so naturally i gravitated towards a XJ for that simple purpose. I live in south florida so owning a truck is just a head ache unless you are in different with lending or being asked to use your vehicle to take things to the local dump on a weekly basis. On the up side all my close friends own XJ's and i have been working on them for a while now to the point that i decided to test my self and pick up a $500 96 2wd XJ 4.0 to convert to 4x4 since it most likely never seen the swampy south like all the other 4x4 here ( with the exception of a huge fan boy movement of wranglers here.. that always seem to be show car finished on the road) .. the irony i guess... well thats my story hope to learn a lot from you guys and i hope i can bring something to the table as well.. much love and respect to y'all

i would also like to add that the XJ barely had floors and i am in the process of replacing / patching , i have already reinforced the front section of the rear leaf spring shackles and with a thicker gauge sheet metal to the frame rails and body and just need to patch up the swiss cheese i call and floor pan. Also have possible 2000 XJ 4x4 conversion in the works for labor since my boy got t-boned and now has a mechanic special wrangler that i will be swapping his 4.0 into.

Sounds like you have a good base and the right kind of experience to get this done. Keep us posted

OOW, drifting! I will eventually learn that skill... once I have something a bit closer to the ground than a lifted jeep.

Welcome to the site. Got a good couple projects on your hands by the sound of it. Now we just need pics to prove it. :D

LOL yes that kid has mad skills but snow and wet conditions usually leave you with a consistent condition when it comes to traction. Unfortunately i feel like the sport lost its soul as the years progressed and its kinda lame now. not to long ago i did have the privilege of driving a 2 door XJ in the florida mud and to be honest had the same thrill kicking it sideways on 2wd only difference it was about 50 mph slower than what im use to, but I had the same amount of fun.. only i dont need to swap rear tires for every 2 minutes of seat time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzUJe4aA1FA last video my girl took of me steering shaft bolts snapped off because of the added stress of removing the PS pump belt ( PS high pressure line was cracked and couldnt run it on the track due to oil precautions) causing me to spin and ended up with my steering wheel on my lap. did few events after that but had no one to film for me. so it was just practice.

Stupid Google ... if I wasnt looking for a piccy of a BMW part, the other day ... I wouldnt even know the little bloke existed .. :D:D

Definitely a clever little bugger, with a knack for being behind the wheel.

Since I'm not much of a racetrack fan myself :o,

... I'm hoping he gets into rally driving when he grows up ... and puts all that sliding ability, to use on mountain dirt roads, dodging trees and stuff .. ;);)

240SX or 180? I miss my 92 Talon TSi. [emoji37]

it was a zenki (1990) 240sx, had KA24E-t setup but then in this video it was a redtop RB off a skyline and some low dollar coilover setup from Tanabe.
