Engine for 99 xj

I have found an xj that needs an engine. Where should I start? What should I stay away from? Junk yard looks like everything has been picked off?... 4x4 auto

Check craigslist for a running wreck.
If you want a reman, there is a company in TX to stay away from as anything that goes wrong is always the installers fault, pm me if you want the name.

Craigslist for partouts/running wrecks or one of the many Texas jeep parts facebook pages.

You could also try www.car-part.com if you want to go the junk-yard route. A quick search shows several within 100 miles of Austin, including one in Kyle with 132K for $750.
