So after a recent wheeling trip, I ripped the straps off of the rear drive shaft.
I'm finally getting around to replacing the ujoint and retaining straps.
So my question is, does the pinion side ears have grooves that the retaining clips sit into like the driveshaft side end does? The new straps do not have any grooves and I cannot feel any grooves on the pinion ears.
I installed them, drove a quarter of a mile and the rear u joint made its way loose.
I have nothing to compare to as I didn't replace any u joints or inspect them on the XJ. I don't see any visible damage.
Does my question make sense?
