Wobble wobble

I have a 97 xj 4.0 4x4, that has a little steering wobble when turning at low speed - like pulling from a stop turning left or right. Just a couple inches or so up and down in the steering wheel. The tie rod end to pitman arm was worn, replaced it - still got the wobbles. What goes on here ?

I had a similar issue with my 93 after I put on a set of mud tires, it eventually went away. Sorry no real answer for you though.

There are a couple of things you can do. One is rotate the tires and see if it still does it. The other is check the axle U joints. They could be getting stiff. Do you have full time 4X4?

Could be a unit bearing too. Roll it like Steve said and grab the tire to feel for play.
