I'm thinking I've never changed the rotors on the 99 before. I'm pretty sure I've done the pads but maybe not. That's the problem with multiple XJ's they blend in your memory. :P

Apparently they changed rotors and wheel bearing assemblies mid 1999.

Saw this over on NAXJA.

Post says left is mid-1999-2001 and right is 1990 - mid 1999

Looking at the 99's wheel bearing assembly...

I think this is the one on the right in the first picture. 1990 - mid 1999.

Problem is the new rotor is different that the one that was on there.

Based on what I read it seems I have the right rotor (NEW) and wrong (OLD).

I really don't see a big difference except the pads ride in a different spot and there is more thread on the lug studs for the lug nuts to grab on to.

Oh and what do you think about this wear? Time for a new caliper?

Could that be cause the inside pad dosnt move as much as the outside pad? Were your sliders lubed well?

Make sure the sliders are clean and dry so they will move easily

There was a split in the rotors in 99. If I remember correctly you measure from the pad surface to the outside of the rotor hub. And also if I remember right the wrong ones will flat out not fit right at all.
