I seem to remember my 87 2dr 4.0 holding 7 quarts or something like that, is the same true for the 96 4.0?

I was on the road (emergency trip) for the first oil change under my ownership and stopped at a Jiffy lube to get it done...

For those wondering, "why don't you have a repair manual?" I sold the FSM I had when I sold the 87... Chilton/Haynes manuals are complete crap. Waiting on an affordable late model FSM to become available on eBay with a buy it now tag instead of standard auction.

I believe the capacity is 6qts but when I change my oil it usually only takes 5.5qts until it's full.

Says 6 quarts, and that's what I use. ;)

I'll change the sludge in the morning. Stomach bug got me today. It's impossible to wrench and use the bathroom at the same time in my current situation. Lol. :yack:

Not that bad for me, but definitely not pleasant. I'm.not nauseated any more, but definitely feel like I've been sucker punched in the gut...

Any fresh oil, is better oil than used nasty oil.... I bought Walmart gallon jug (supertech) 10w40 this time due to budget. I prefer Valvoline or Castrol though. Pennzoil and Quaker State don't do well in my opinion as they don't seem to run as high of oil pressure at op temp. Makes me nervous.
