I'm getting ready to start a new project and I am wondering if any of you have done this before. I acquired two Rubicon rock rails for cheap from a family member. It's going to require quite a bit of fabrication, but I think these will work out nicely for me. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/04/01/cdc9aa85b787fe428330383bbae55624.jpg

Can't say I have done that, nor do I know anyone who has. Looks like it will take some work

It will, but if I pull it off I will have a new method of building solid rock rails for cheap. I'm going to have to chop about 6 inches off each side and extend the mounting brackets so they can be bolted to the frame channels underneath. I also plan to plate the frame a bit to give it some added strength.

Most rock rails mount to the pinch seam and frame

The pinch seam mount on this will work almost as is. They'll need some slight mods. I figured that the metal is good, thick and already shaped like I want them. It's easier to start with these than to start from scratch. We will see where it goes.
