So I am putting a new rear bumper on my xj. it is a Nates Rear bumper. it has some braces that go up along the bottome of the frame rail. You are to put a bracket inside the rail that will hold some carriage bolts. I got the drivers side in. the passenger side already has a strap in there with bolts that the muffler bracket bolt into. How have others dealt with this? If I can get the bolts loose and take the strap out, the new strap does not go all the way to the bracket bolts. what could I mount the muffler bracket to?

How many nuts are on the bracket currently in the passenger side "frame" rail? If it has enough nuts already on it I would just use what is in there.

Hopefully someone with a newer model can comment though.

So you are saying they provide a piece of flat iron with carriage bolts in it that goes inside the frame rail?

Yes. You put the strap thingy, technical term, into the frame rail then work the carriage bolts down in there an drop them in.

Tried using the original nuts that were there. They are rusted out and no good. there are no thr w ads left on those bad boys. I really had hoped that was my solution

I used the JCR's. They were well done and fit well. Super easy install.

Ordered the strips today. Pretty excited to get the bumper on properly. At the risk of some interesting retorts, i saw in the pick that there is a bend in the strip. Is it gonna fit in the small hole at back of frame rail? Ok guys. Have fun with that one while you r at it.....

Yes, there is a bend in them. And yes, the holes in the rear of the "frame" are where you insert them. They go a certain direction (can't remember which right now) to sit flush inside there.
