I went in to get an alignment, the shop told me i need to replace my trackbar before i can get it aligned. The bushing on the axle end is shot. So now i need help figuring out my track bar situation and if i need a drop pitman arm as well. Here are some front end pics.

Any help as always is much appreciated. :)

I'm looking to get an adjustable double shear pin style. The iron rock off road track bar looks nice and it says it fits 3-8 inch lifts. Opinions?

No complaints with Iron Rock. Ask them which pitman arm you should use with it. You will only need a dropped pitman if the frame end mounting is lower than stock

Just ordered my IRO track bar. I called and asked about getting a drop pitman arm, they said it isn't required. Also asked if i will need any additional bump stop to make sure i don't bang it on the diff or anything, which is not required either. :) now to just wait for it to get here......

Shouldn't have to wait too long.. I think almost all the stuff I ordered got to my house within a week.. and I live further away then you do.. Look forward to seeing what you think about it.. I know I think it seems pretty darn beefy!!

No wonder you blokes have so much hassle with death wobble, alignments and stuff .......

.... All your steering gear is mounted on the wrong side of the car .. ;);) .. :D

The only issues I had was the vehicle trying to run off the LH side of the road ... coz the dozy buggas left exports wheelbase - setup for driving on the american side of the road ..

I got this one...

Tis nice, big gear, huh ..

... altho, I still reach for a safety hat any time I go near my lower control arms .. :D:D

You sometimes do have to wonder if you ever get around a few of them... I've gotten to fly a few Aussies, Kiwi's and even Brits over the years as well as being around them at different locations all over the world... and some of the words they use or come up with... I often wonder if they just use them to see our reactions or what... but I know quite a few they always use, cause I heard them talking to each other... They are all still an awesome bunch to talk too, hang out with, and drink a few (too many)!!

Agreed. My childhood hero to this day is Steve Irwin. I've always wanted to visit down under. I will one day. I've known a couple blokes (just for you Carves) from Australia and New Zealand, fine folks indeed. :)

Did you not receive your Carves to English translation guide? I thought it was standard issue for all members.

Good news and bad news. The good news is the new track bar arrived on Tuesday, the thing seems tough! I bet it will outlast my jeep. The bad news is the spring for the garage door opener broke so I can't put it in. :bang::bang:
The repair man is scheduled to come tonight so hopefully it will be fixed today.

Popped in the new track bar and bracket, drag link and a new steering stabilizer just for the heck of it over the last few days. Just need to torque everything to spec then off to the alignment shop! :D

Alignment shop called, they said she is pretty much aligned, but the steeeing gear box is on it's way out and needs to be replaced. I know that there is some slack in the wheel because one of the little u-joints in the input shaft is bad, so maybe that is the culprit. Do you think that would prevent them from being able to do a full alignment? I thought it was basically take some measurements, adjust tie rod, measure again and it's good? I guess i don't see how some steering slack would mess with the alignment... I will update again after i pick her up and talk to them in person.

I would say that unless it is completely worn out, you should be able to get a decent enough alignment to be able to safely operate the XJ again... and not worry about tearing up your tires or anything else in the mean time... But that is just my $.02 worth!!

Part of the alignment is getting your steering wheel straight. If the U joints are shot in the sector shaft, then they wouldn't be able to do that part of it

That's something I'm kind of hoping to source out of the JY in decent shape myself.. as my stock box is leaking a little bit.. figure might as well upgrade while replacing...
