I replaced my RE 6200 short arm lift with a RE long arm upgrade last weekend and am pretty happy with the results. I'm very happy to get rid of the drop brackets and the Jeep drives great. Here are a few pics after the install.

A few extra parts...

I'm running 4.56 gears with an ARB locker and a disk brake conversion in the rear 8.25 and a Yukon Grizzly in the front HP D30. I use a Viair OBA system with 2.5 gal tank in the cargo compartment. The front axle is equipped with inner sleeves, chromo shafts, a Warn hub kit, and OTT flip for the Currie steering.

Thoughts?

Very nice looking Jeep. Long arms are so much better I think. Looks like you can peddle some parts and get some money back

I sold my jcr skid and stock crossmember. I'll. Sell the short arms and drop brackets soon. Might keep them for mild build for my son if I buy another XJ.

Ah yes, the kids Jeep. I end up keeping parts for that purpose. I have a few on his TJ now

My older boy has a nicely built 2001. Id love to build a prerunner style for my younger kid. 2WD and locked would be a blast. For him...yeah that's it...

Heck yeah, can put the short arms w/drop brackets on a 2wd for the younger one.. then once he get older, can always do a father/son project of converting her up to 4WD status... Either way that is a clean looking 99 you got, and looks really nice with the RE LA setup... That was the LA upgrade Iw as looking at picking up had I not snagged a good deal on an IRO LA upgrade...

Ill buy an MJ if I can find one. That would be my preference but they are getting hard to find.

Thanks for the kind words. It has remained surprisingly clean for the amount of trail abuse it sees. I guess it pays to keep the shiny side up.

After having to let my 98 XJ go due to divorce, when I was looking for a new Jeep to cure the bug.. I was looking for a MJ to build up this time around... but was unable to find one that either wasn't rusted out, or wasn't a 2.5L.. since I don't have the knowledge or equipment to convert to a 4.0 or a V8 that wouldn't work too well for me.. but from looking at your build.. think you'd be able to handle that task just fine.. You looking at picking up a MJ for yourself, or for the younger son??
