Everything was working well with the Lokka for the first few days after the install. Friday on my way back from work, I made the tight left turn onto my street and instead of hearing the very light ratcheting noise I heard a ratcheting noise that was a bit louder and I could feel. After getting home and walking the dogs, I was still a bit concerned so I took it for a test drive around my neighborhood and everything was back to acting like normal, so I chalked it up to just a weird turn while still breaking in the locker.
Again two days later, same circumstances it did it again. So I pulled it into the garage, jack up the front end and spin the wheels in 2wd. Everything seemed normal so I switched into 4wd and did the unlock test as shown in the instructions and the drivers side when spun both front and back didn't want to unlock.
So I pulled the cover and carrier and double checked all clearances once again. 0.011LH and 0.013RH spacer to cross shaft and 0.159 inter-cam clearance. All within spec but I'm not sure if that .002 difference would do anything. There is also very slight wear on the cross-shaft, not enough that I could measure with any of my tools but enough for me to feel as I run my finger across it. I did not notice this when I installed it but I could have missed it.
What do you guys think? Right now, I'm definitely going to get a new hardened cross shaft and am debating on whether I should get new thrust washers. Is that too much variation between the two sides?
Any recommendations or advice from someone more knowledgeable than I? 7067
