No joke.... about a decade ago, I worked security. I was reading out a license plate to dispatch and the phonetic word for "V" had escaped me... my transmission was "Texas plate, 1-Bravo-8, Charlie-niner-.... um.... Viagra". You should have heard the laughter coming over the radio after that one! I never lived that one down :D

BTW those are military phonetics. Law enforcement phonetics are different and have be used by all law enforcement per government regulation.
