I'm watching the final 3 hours right now (delay), the "jack hammer" is a parking lot, rigs as far as the eye can see. That must be frustrating for sure.

who won?

yea that section where they were all winching up to has got to be frustrating. wonder how many overheated sitting around like that

Randy Slawson

when 10% of rigs off starting line finish, it's more about the race than who won.

IFS rig took 3rd. Maybe the Grand will stay IFS after all

I'm not sure how I feel about that guy. On one hand I think he sux for what he did on the other I think it was epic. If you clog the trail you become the trail!

(I have no clue how to embed the video so you'll have to click to see.)

Haha! Damn!!! Yea that's a little shady. But like you said Raymond, clog it up ya get run over!

I'm guessing it was a completely legal "pass"?

Firemanray

I'm competitive but I don't think I could bring myself to run over somebody's car just to pass.

Are there penalties for unsportsman like conduct or something? Don't really blame him for grabbing a rock or two and chucking it. Guy was blaring that siren at the next guy too.

I have seen some other clips of one vehicle "passing" another in this manner. It seems to be allowed

Firemanray

It must be acceptable behavior, here is a different one from last year:

That one doesn't look as bad. Looks like he tried going around and didn't actually go over his.

I think a a$$ wopping is in order for that guy and shove that siren up his arse

denverd1

Did he go over the strap??

So at a minimum they need some rules so folks don't get hurt. You shouldn't be able to drive over a winching rig.

denverd1

Slawson looked like he slid down into the stalled rig a bit as well. Hard to tell from that angle.

I'd love to go. 2 problems, Zach will be in college and can't go (he'd be mad if I went without him) , 2, I don't do well as a spectator. I would have to race in order to enjoy it. I can't afford to field a competitive vehicle for that race.

I just watched a video from the hammers of a team racing a "rented" car. Now this looks a little more promising, fly to Cali. rent a streeter, go to the hammers, race a rented Ultra4 car then fly home.

hmmm... that sounds a LOT more doable than building something. although your crawler doesn't seem too far off....

I'd LOVE to do this.
:banghead:
until I found the cost:
Rental Cost:
$17,500 rental cost for the entire week plus entry fees*
$7,500 per Regional race plus entry fees*

car does come with its own pit crew though....

Firemanray

13g a piece should cover it, no to bad for a week at the super bowl of off roading. Way cheaper than building a car and transporting it all the way to California.

Here ya go, this is one of the "spec" cars for rent:

This would really be the way to go vs. spending $60+k to build your own.

But you could sell it afterward... with all the freshly broken parts... and gently used chassis... and with all those people begging to hand over a fortune to buy a used koh rig... yeah, so who's card are we putting the rental on?!
