What are the most common areas for vacuum leaks in XL's? Mine is a '01 Limited. I hear a thin high-pitched whistling sound from the engine bay when I accelerate, and other vacuum leak type sounds here and there.

I understand that intake manifolds and/or exhaust manifolds are prone to problems on these, but other than that, where do the typical fare of leaks occur and how to you folks prefer to go about finding them?

Thanks!

MY 96 had a lot of hard plastic tubing that cracked and split. I replaced it with some red silicone tubing I got from ebay.

Are there areas more prone to leaks than others?

Vacumn booster check valve is up there since its plastic. Anywhere hose hooks to plastic is a good one.
I have read alot of people like using a unlit propane torch chasing lines with engine running.

I've heard of that before but I'm too chicken to try it.
I think this is the safer alternative.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMok2y05jNE
