:crazy:I think that's it for me, its happened, I've lost it completely.

I am not sure what lead to it, I was shopping at the i-tunes store, listening to music, watching vids on U-tube, kinda day dreaming......

Then a stray particle of energy randomly floating through the universe for billions of eons, passed through my left ear and lodged itself in my brain....

I don't know where it came from, but one thing I do know.....it was evil!

It told me, I was not done, My mission was not complete, Rigor Mortis was just a beginning, the universe was not finished with me yet......

It told me to build...thishttp://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii191/pookapotamus/XXJ_zps8d0312cd.jpg (http://s264.photobucket.com/user/pookapotamus/media/XXJ_zps8d0312cd.jpg.html)

Do I do what the evil energy demands??? Do I give into my destiny??

Seriously this came out of nowhere, just started thinking, "how would I build a 6 wheel drive monster XJ"?
35's, v8, all coil, 3 link front D44, dual 4 linked D44 rears, 8" lift

Sounds like an awesome project but i beg one question. Why not leave mort alone and build this beast separately? It sounds like you'll be doing all new suspension, axles, engine, trans, and a ton of body work. You could do that to another and still have mort to enjoy whole building this one. Plus all that hard work you've already done stays.

To pull this off I would use a 4 door front section and a 2 door rear section and get your stretch with the longer 2 door window frame then blend the two wheel tubs together to get the long wheel well desired

Well Dana, all I can say is when you get to it I will build the tcase for it. First one for that application built in 1946 :D

Steve, I was thinking of devising a system where the two rear axels were completely independent from each other, to gain as much flex as possible from each axel.

Jenssen, I was thinking of an MJ front, with 2 door rear, to get the larger doors, then use the rear pillars from a 4 door and cut the arch into the longer doors, makes for an odd shaped door, but would not have to stretch the jeep much if at all. Would also add a frame, and one of the rear axels would have to be able to steer

That is interesting. The first pics are of a prototype that only a few were built by Willys to compete with the Dodge Power Wagon after WWII. They never made it to production. The last one, maybe. It is narrower and is a stretched MB. Would like to see that

Sweet! Thanks oldfaurt!

If your up for it I have a few requests, slide the rear tires forward until the front of the front tire is around 6" in front of the rear door seam, basically try and tuck both rear tires under the stock length. I would plan on using the back of a rear door from a 4 door to clear the front, rear tire. Both rear tires would have to be quite close together. Not sure what I would do above the rear tires for glass or chop it off, Tony's all glass version is super awesome!!!!! Can you change the color to a bright metallic blue??

If you can't or just don't have the time it's totally cool, I am planning on making a 3d model of the xj in inventor soon anyway so I can play with ideas and do measurements later on.

4.3LXJ
02-09-2015, 12:41 PM
Not a stupid question at all. There is a rig called T Rex, a 3/4 ton Dodge pickup converted to 6X6. You can Google it. He has done a very nice job on it and has high articulation at each axle. It does very well in the rocks. The extra axle gives that much much more traction. It would do well in your area with mud too

There are a couple of ways you can do this. First is the D20 case. It is also the cheapest. You could use the Bronco case so you don't have to worry about which side the case drops on. You have to combine the D20 case with the front and rear outputs from the D18 case. That gives you individual control over the axles and full low range capability. You have three full length driveshafts. The third to the rear most axle goes to an offset pumpkin with a carrier bearing in the middle that rests on the tube for the axle in front of it.

The other option is to use an Atlas case with a similar approach.

T-case will basically be above the leading rear axle,... you need more stretch

Quit harshing my mellow man!

yes the way it sits right now I need another 13.5" in the rear to be able to use a TJ drive shaft. One of my main goals is to not stretch the body, so how do I plan on getting that extra 13.5"??? Portals!!! I saw this on the interwebs therefore it has to be true!!!

honestly no idea, this is still very much a concept, changing drive lines might be able to shorten it, moving the engine forward would help but throw off balance, but there are lots of possibilities and options that I can play with, I am not going to give up on this!

Also I value everyone's comments, even if you think it might be silly it can lead to something important.

Im thinkin tracks....lol. Honestly a streched xj would be cool. Start w a four door and add back half of 2 door from right behind pillar should give you enough room
