Thank you for the kind welcome. I've got a 98 Cherokee Limited in progress at the moment. It's actually my dad's; he bought it brand new back then to take the snow up north. Well, 7 years ago, it overheated and has been down ever since.

I've been doing a bit of research on cherokees in the last few months so I've been on this website previously as a guest. The members here are very helpful and friendly. Just in case I ever need to ask a question I can't find the answer to, I decided to join the forums.

Right now, I've taken the engine out. Not sure how people can do it in a day! But this took me 5 months so far, going at it on and off. I'm not mechanically-inclined and this big project is my first. Being a college student at the time, I also wasn't able to dedicate more than an hour at it a day and sometimes I didn't touch it for weeks. Now that I've gotten school out of the way and the engine out, I'm a bit more determined in resurrecting this rig. Got a good deal on the replacement engine and it's going in soon.

Hoping all things continue to go well. I'm excited!

Ah, college. That time of life when you start spreading your wings. Truth be told, that is when I made my first modification to a 4X4. Good luck on that project. Don't get rid of that engine. Someday when you get a little more experience, you can probably fix that over heated engine for a spare

Sounds fun! Welcome to xjtalk. Give us a pic of the project and don't be afraid to come back for help or just show off your running jeep. :D

Thanks! The engine was gone too soon at only 117k miles but it will be there if and when I am confident enough to fix it up. And I will definitely share some before and after pictures of the jeep when everything works and all cleaned up. I've got a lot to learn and plan.
