Turbos: makes ya wonder why makers don't use turbo setups as a way to boost MPGs with low displacement engines.

They do. Subaru has been doing it for over 20 years now. But there is a trade off. Turbo engines have a lower compression and get a little less milage than the non turbo engine of the same size. In the case of the Subi, about 3 mpg

I know that's what Ford is trying to do with EcoBoost engine lineup. Everything I've read and heard though, is that they mostly just game the EPA estimated mileage and the real world mpgs are more in line with the larger displacement engine that makes comparable power.

Thats a fine looking car. Due to start production late next year this will push GM's hand at producing a mid engine Corvette. The Corvette fourm I belong to is showing sneek peeks of one thats being tested. If GM pulls the trigger on it rumor has it coming out for 2017 about the time the GT comes out. No telling what the "sticker price" will be for either one of them as 05-06 Ford GT 40's are selling from 300k to 500k right now.

Hmmm... I just don't see this car competing with the corvette. Is it not a low production, almost concept car?

2004-2006 there were 2500 GTs made. In 2005 alone there were 40000 'vettes. not sure whats designed to compete with the GT but just looking at production numbers.

They're designing a mid-engined Corvette to compete with the GT. The front engine Corvette would still be made as well and wouldn't really be in the same market segment as the GT.

Edit: At least as far as I know. OrangeXJ is the Corvette buff of the forum.

Your right abe the mid engine Corvette would compete with the Ford GT. From what I've read it will be sold along side of the front engine C7 not replace it "yet if it happens" then they will have a C8. As all the top Euorpean sports car manufactures are doing mid engine cars it's only natural GM will follow suit.

Both of these cars will be in the 6 figure class so I can only dream.

And yes I'm a Corvette buff. On nice weekends I have to decide what to drive the jeep or the vette :smiley-scared003:

Definitely a sweet car. I will miss the nostalgia of the previous model but its gonna move on sometime.

As far as the mid engine vette, could it look something like this... ? :D

That doesn't look right at all. The only identifying mark is the tail lights.
