View Full Version : We need a high miles master list!

dagod16

We need a master list of how many miles each member has on their jeep. Bragging rights.
I want to know how my 220k stacks up against the rest of you.

We could update it 5 times a year by choice. Members name next to
the mileage.
Maybe we could click on their name to email for advice as to how to get those
high miles.

come on......
what are your thoughts?

227834.. Driving like a bat out of hell and frequent oil changes seems to do the trick for me.

Should I feel inadequate ? I'm glad I only have about 125k on mine. I looked for a low mile XJ, for quite a while. Bought it with 94k on it. :mel:

The closest thing I know of is a poll. You could do one for certain segments of miles. I.e. 150,000 - 175,000; 175,000 - 200,000; and so on.

I'm guessing some of us count our hours of use not by mileage but by the amount of empty beer cans/bottles they accumulate.

I bet we are all thinking of the same person right now.

How cool would it be if all of our vehicles we listed by mileage. Highest at the top and lowest at the bottom. Mine with 220K. I bet I wouldn't be even in the top 50. I bet we have 30 to 50 people here with higher than that.

Please we need a list on the main page.

High mileage club link.

Looks like you'll need to find someone who programs in PHP with MySQL database and I'm sure Tony will do what he can to make it happen.

I wouldn't use a PHP or MySQL database... That's how the government tracks how much honey mustard sauce you use.

Ummmm you guys know you can record your current mileage in the User CP > Edit Details area, right?

If we record it in user details it wont show up on a cool list?

What do u mean already did it?

He said he needs someone who can program in PHP with MySQL database in order to do what you're talking about. The task sounds easy, I mean how hard could a list be, but I'm sure it would take a good bit of programming and troubleshooting in order to get it functioning correctly. I took a programming class in college, dropped it after 1.5weeks...

Can't we just ask SIRI to do it for us? She seems nice, a little moody at times but pretty cool.

Maybe you could put a box below the most active users online box on the main page.

Maybe call it the high mileage club.

Sounds simple but it would be hours of research to figure out how to do it. Goes back to that PHP/mysql programming thing.

I have a lot going on with the podcasts, work and just life in general, so I like the idea, but I'm really not eager to pay the few hundred dollars to contact to have someone do it. Even at that I'd have to baby sit them and then apply the new code myself. Don't want strangers having their fingers in innards of your site.

Too much reality? I can just not comment. :D

I still like the sound of a mileage high club. I think I'll join. but I got a feeling I'll be all by myself. Like I was when I joined the mile high club.

My current Xj which is a 99' has 345XXX miles on it. It would have a few thousand more if it wasn't sitting at someone garage for 2 months. But both my 00' & 01' all had over 500K miles.

500k, wow.
did they have the original trannies?

07Negative
01-20-2015, 11:46 AM
Yes, everything original. I've got a leg up on my climate though. I'm in the Bay Area of California. No rust issues ever. I just changed the fluids religiously and don't dog the shit out of it. They all leaked oil like man. But I'd fix one at a time. I went through starters like crazy too. They'd get full of oil from the oil pan leaking and the 3 O rings. Went through a few sets of motor mounts. XJ's are good, reliable vehicles went you don't dick with em and do all the crazy crap we're doing to em. I drove from CA to CT 3 times. Up to WA a million times. Did a few trips to Baja and one trip up and through Canada and Alaska. That was before you needed a pass port to get into Canada eh!

Tony it wouldn't be too hard to do it in php and mysql. remember a few weeks ago i was starting to learn it? i can send you the code i wrote to show you how i did it. now mine was filling in drop down lists with the query but still similar. im not good enough with it to just sit down and write it out.

My sweet green 2001 XJ has 325881. She is my faithful daily driver and makes $ for me every time those junkyard tires roll. on cold mornings 20 degrees and below, I push the Astro-Start button and she springs to life:patriot: 3rd radiator seems to be the charm, a couple of water pumps, and alt and a batt, oil changes around 4 0r 5 k. There is not a better vehicle made. Probably don't have to tell anyone here that:driving:

When I got My Jeep, it had just over 320,000. Now I have put just over 70,000 since January of 2014.
So 390,000+-. I have no idea how accurate the mileage quote was from previous owner. So, My mileage may vary... I intend to wear the poor thing out... so what is a few miles between friends?

Is that the original tranny and engine.

Mine is at 255,00 and still going. It is making old man noises more and more. This summer my son and I have the following scheduled to upgrade or replace

Top of the line track bar and mount plate.
Front springs
New brake calipers,
New brake compressor unit thing under hood.
new rubber or stainless brake lines.
rubber bushings, all of them for the rear.
replace rear leaf brackets on the back end. both sides
New hitch.
Nice leather cover for the front seat or seats.
Possibly a new axle shaft, maybe an upgraded one.
Possibly stainless exhaust all the way back.
Possibly I am going to do the rear main seal which doesn't look hard to do just take a bit of time. oil pump while I'm in their.
Cool looking roof rack.

My tranny is still running good. I feel like the engine has lost some power over the years.

My son will get it at 16 in a year or so and I want it running well for him. With the cost of new suv's I don't have an issue putting in $1500 in upgrades to keep this one running for another 200K.

Im really gonna be excited when it hits 300K. My son thinks we are going to 40K no problem.

well, I thought mine was doing good at 208k!! although PO said rebuilt at 140..... I don't find anything that disagrees with that.

my brake booster is the only thing that really needs maintenance, although I've replaced quite a few parts on it as they need it. expect mine to run for a long time
