Gas tank strap bolt lameness

so a tank strap busted from being rusted.
held up with bungee.
bought new straps
but i have a missing strap bolt like a J bolt.
the one still on is rusted bad anyways.
autozone/oriliieielys/advanced doesnt carry them.
and Chrysler wants $30 for 1 bolt :confused:



aaaaaaaaaaaanyone have some unused strap bolts sitting around? :smiley-chores003:

I have a gas tank strap j bolt in front of me. I will try and relay the dimensions in case anyone out there cares to make their own.( probably would be cheaper than buying one). the total length is 9" it appears to be 3/8" in dia with the rod having a course thread- threaded 4" of the 9 total inches. At about 8.5 inches ,there is about a 90 degree bend. The end of the bend is rounded. the round part is 5/8" in diameter. The rounded part is slightly thicker than the head of my jeep key.

they would have worked but i made mine work.
the dumdum PO red locktited the nuts on. vice. propaine torch. i boiled loctite out. took off the nuts. then took off the broken strap peices.
one strap doesnt have the rubber strip anymore. but i dont care.

p.s. alimony was dropped in court yesterday :) thank you Jesus. $500 extra a month woot woot
