I can feel and hear a thud coming from the front end when the front axle seems to be stressed in a side to side motion ( I went 4x4ing this weekend ). I can feel it in the floor boards near my feet so I wonder if it is something loose with the front DS or something else. Thoughts on what I should look for?

Just because it's a common issue... Driver's side motor mount.

I would almost think since you say side to side movement & on the DS... that you might def want to check the Track Bar bracket @ the frame end, make sure it's still tightly bolted to the "frame", make sure the "frame" is still in one piece, and no cracks anywhere.. also might check steering gearbox attachment and control arms and mounts..

I'd check the trans mount as well. Do you have stock control arms? The flex joints in my arms bang a lot

Stock lift and Ill get underneath it and try to shake a few things. Thanks all for the tips!

Mine made this noise for about a year.

I could't find it for the longest time. It finally turned out to be the track bar mount. on the frame side. 2 of the four bolts were rusted away in the middle. you could't tell by looking at it the only way was to remove the bracket and inspect it.
