so I have been doing some research about the motor swaps in the XJ/Camaro, kind of swaps.
First I thought of bore and stoker for the 2.8L 2bbL witch could be bringing it up to the 3.1l/3.4l Range. But in order to get that bore done the motor needs to be taken out. in this case I just managed that since It is a lot easer to build then swap then I was thinking of just doing a Camaro swap of the 3.4l
So then I did more :bang: so I found that the 3.4L GM 60-degree V-6
is a pretty much bolt on but guys and gals I don't want to upgrade to TBi that is just to much work for just a one man job (been there done that-CRX) so I wanted to keep if NA, I remember I had a few Camaro racing friends and they where saying they always raced with carbs but I cant remember if he had said there was away to toss the FI and go with the Intake many off a Carb and run with the carbs

Most Likely the goal is to go with Removing the 2.8l v-6 Which I believe is the LR2 was a truck version ("B-code") produced from 1982 to 1990

and replace it with a carbed Motor, and it needs to pass smog laws so it has to be new then the 86 I believe i'll bush up on that again
Crap Life is catching up with me at the moment i'm going to have to chime in again later

don't want to be stupid and since I am on a different computer, I gess it would be ok to site sources:

But I want to stay far way from the FI:smiley-scared003:i am ok with fabrication and bolt-ons as well :)

retro fitting to carbed shouldn't be a problem, but like Steve pointed out, passing emissions should be it

A couple of issues for you then on this, since I went through this in CA. First of all, that carb on there is an electronic carb. Unless you have a non CA rig, it has a computer behind the instrument cluster. The Chevy version did not for some reason. That makes the CA Jeep carb unique, and you cannot buy those electronic parts. Even getting a rebuild from Jeep is dicey. If you go newer on a 3.4L, it will have to have all the smog equipment that came on that engine. I know you don't want to mess with TBI, but believe me it is pretty simple on those engines. I have a 2.8L out of a 93 I think sitting in my shop right now. One plug and harness to the engine, one to an O2 sensor which you have anyway, and one wire to the ignition. Pretty simple really
