Hi I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. I replaced the oil pressure switch due to it leaking with a brand new OE one. The gauge worked before I replaced the switch. Now it is stuck off the scale and will not move, I even tried taking the wire off the back of the switch thinking it might drop but it didn't.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Did you end up with one for an idiot light? Those will be full on when the engine is running and will cause the gauge to be pegged

I think 4.3LXJ nailed it. There are two different Oil pressure Sensors for the pre-97 XJs. 97+ only have one that works with both types of gauge clusters.

Thank you both for your replies. I am not sure this is the one I purchased :-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OIL-PRESSURE-SWITCH-JEEP-ADA106603C-BY-BLUE-PRINT-/400752183051?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AJeep|Model%3ACherokee|Cars+Year%3A 1995|Plat_Gen%3AXJ|Cars+Type%3A4.0i&hash=item5d4eb1070b.

My jeep is a 1995 4.0Ltr model. Would you know what part number I am looking for so the gauge will work again?

Thanks in advance

After looking at that page and the compatibility, I would stay away from that brand. They list that sender for everything Jeep made. But there are two different senders for each model year depending on what instrument cluster you have up to 96

thank you 4.3lxj. I didn't know there were different ones. It stopped the oil leak the old switch had and is still OK. The gauge not working is something I would like to sort.

Would you happen to know where the best place would be to get the correct one?

Thanks

I have to confess I am not familiar with your options there. Try a PM to PhilXJ4L. He lives near you and buys lots of stuff for his XJ

did you tap the gauge 3 times with your finger??? usually works for me!

sorry, i've got nothing to add. just bored at work. but it sounds like you got the wrong sender
