This has only happened one time so far but I want to know what is the sensor that sends the current voltage reading of the batter to the dash gauge. I had one time where I had a "Check Gauges" light and my battery was showing 9 volts and not charging. Jeep ran fine and when I killed it and started it back up again there was no issues.

The sensor is inside the PCM

Oh that sounds like fun. So prob a loose connections now.

Could be a loose connection on the alternator, stopping it from charging and reading low on the gauge, would still run fine with full battery voltage. How old is the alt?

Less than 40k miles, about 4 years old.

Mine will do that as well... reads way low but charges fine at about 14.3 volts +/-
