What is this thing?

This thing is between my visors on the headliner. Someone at some point has painted the little black bulb with what looks like nail polish. It has wires on the backside of it. What the heck is this? 95 XJ Sport, BTW

Good to hear from you again Nate. That is the security module. It picks up the signal from your key fob and unlocks the doors etc.

Hmmmmm. I thought the alarm did that. Key fob doesn't work now, but it's not the factory one, either. No matter, I despise power locks and windows and would gladly buy new GREEN doors with manual everything. That's just the answer I was hoping for, though. That's going to make a great place for my own custom switch panel or ham radio mount. Lol. Thanks Steve!
