ddm hid questions

I have an 01 Cherokee and I heard ddmtuning is the way to go for hid kits. im considering to go with a 55w 8k setup. I don't care about other cars on the road....im a rude 23 year old. my concern is I heard that the 55w ballast can melt down headlights if they ass. is too small...I consider ours to be a good size but I am not sure.. any help or advice would help lol also bulb size would be good.

If the housings are plastic, then they will melt them. Too much heat.

I thought our housings were all aluminum...or steel?

The XJ has a sealed beam headlamp. To convert, you need to get H4 housings. When you do, you might as well get E code housings and then people won't be mad at you

I ran a 55w 6k HID setup in my 98 XJ w/ Hella E-code housings for about three months before I traded it in.. Never had an issues out of anything melting or even heating up much... Was going to do it again in the 97 that I just picked up, but for right now and for the sake of having that money to put into other mods/upgrades for it, I'm just going to go with the standard H4 upgrade with the 80/100w Hella bulbs that I had before I tried the HID setup..

You get better light output that you can use with 6k rather than 8k. But if you just are a "rude 23 year old" you might care more about the looks rather than usefulness.

You can buy then locally at any parts store. Mine are sourced that way. You can also click on the Amazon link here and get them. Hella makes the best with an E code housing that works like projector lights
