Seems the armour the N Ireland police use on their Discoverys works much better than the much published 'peace process'
A republican bomb went off as this was passing.

That sorta thing was a daily occurrence in NI for close on 30 years. I was around 5 when it started, so was pretty much all I knew when growing up. It never actually stopped, the 'peace process' only reduced the incidents.

Whatever the issue there, I wish they would settle it.

Tbh, it won't settle for generations. There have been 2 generations of kids getting brainwashed with all the crap from their parents and growing up knowing nothing else. It's very sad really, as it really is a beautiful country.
I knew one guy who never left his own area of Belfast (maybe around 3-4 square miles) until he was 21 ! He also thought he would need a passport to travel from NI to Scotland.

We are totally unused to that here. Everything here is done on a much larger scale. I have heard that in Europe a 10 mile drive is considered a long drive. We drive that far every day just to do anything at all

Well, we stayed away from Northern Ireland when we went this summer. Indeed beautiful country, but I'll stay in regular Ireland :D
