Ignition Lock Cylinder Removal

Ok, so far this forum has been Great with the info on how to release the ignition lock cylinder on my 2000 XJ Sport. I tapped the cylinder with a hammer and the key turned, Great . However, now I am having a problem trying to get the cylinder completely out of the column. It will slide out about an inch, should be any other type of release or just pull harder or What. Thanks.

Man, I don't know. This is kind of out of my area of expertise. I have always hired that done. Hopefully someone will chime in on this
