Sputtering when first start

So when I first start my xj it sputters like a miss but then goes mostly away after its been driven. What is it?

So when I first start my xj it sputters like a miss but then goes mostly away after its been driven. What is it?

My 1998 did that, I checked the fuel pressure and it was bleeding down to almost 0 after just a couple of minutes.

If I turned the key on and off three times it would pressurize and start almost normally.

Ultimately I had to replace the fuel pump that is inside the fuel cell. I think the fuel pump is external on the pre-97's though.

I hope it is..... Could it be the regular? I'm starting to find things that were over looked by the previous owner. There's more then oil changes and tires. Hahahaha

The fuel pump is still in the tank on pre-97 XJs.
