Not Jeep related, but Acura related.

My friend has HID headlights and he wants to swap to halogen. His reasoning is that he doesn't want to pay to replace HID parts down the road. Who am I to argue? lol

Now, my questions stem from the fact that I have a severe a.d.d. issue with things that don't interest me much, i.e. HID lighting. But, I'll pay attention now so I can help him out.

So, what does he need to swap to halogen? Remove the little "electrical boxes" (whatever they're called lol) and bulbs, then hook up stocker bulbs and go?

I think I may have to dabble with his removed parts too. Thoughts on making HID off-road lights? :D

HIDs can be had for cheap, under $100 you can have a complete system. After that it's just bulbs.

yep just take out the extra harness that's for the HIDs and then plug the factory harness to the halogen bulb and plug back in.

Sweet, thank you sir. I had a feeling it would be simple. So all he would need is oem type bulbs? Original harness should still be in there?

Yeah original harness should be there, the new one usually just plugs in to the factory harness then to the two boxes, one per side.

Now with a cherokee the oem was a sealed headlight unit, meaning the plug plugged into the back of the headlight, no bulb. You may have to just look at it and see if the factory harness can just plug into the oem type bulb.

Basically just look at it and see what you have and go from there. You can post pics and we can help you. My experience with HIDs is with my wife's Grand Cherokee WK. So I may be off on some of the details.

Hmm, not sure if they're stock actually.

Lots of acuras come stock with them. If thats the case, he will have to find a bulb that fits the socket, and then, if i was him, I'd build my own headlight harness like you would do on an xj.

I'm still waiting on his reply. I do know it's a 2003 Acura TL if that helps

Yep, he just replied that they're stock HID lights.

aww ok, why not just go aftermarket HIDs. Not like they are that expensive.

Yep, that's what I just told him. hidextra.com seems pretty cheap
