I'm sure this topic has been beat to death but, I'm looking to upgrade my stock wheel tire combo on my 98 xj. I don't plan on changing the stock suspension height at this time. Considering the Cragar soft 8 15 x7 with 4.5 BS & 235 75 15 all terrain tires. Any suggestions? Thank You!

Welcome Ken. There are several good all terrain tires out there. Probably the most popular is the BFG All Terrain. They last forever and perform well. One that also gets good reviews and is slightly more aggressive is the Goodyear Duratrac

Definitely agree with both of those suggestions. We have run several sets of bfg all terrains on a few vehicles and never had an issue. The sidewall is pretty tough. Tread wear is excellent.

Also, i'd like to suggest an 8" wide wheel. That way if you ever want to step up to a 12.50" wide tire you won't have any issues or need new wheels. And it makes them more valuable to others should you won't to sell them down the line.

I agree as well...I've run BFG A/Ts with excellent results in off-road traction, durability and street traction as well...the 8" rim is also a good recommendation, I have 8" rims (4.25BS) DC1s w/STT Cooper 31's and an 4" Old Man Emu Kit.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm confused about the backspacing though. I plan on going with the 15 X7 with 235 75 15 all terrain tires. What backspace should I get 4" or 4.5?
Thanks

Stock is 4.75" IIRC. The 4.5" would be close to that and allow you to fully stuff your tires without rubbing. Something to think about. If you move your tires out too far, they will rub on the top of the flares
