Ok, so my steering wheel in my civic is smaller than the norm and store-bought covers are too big. With the humidity in Houston, my wheel is often slick. Solution? I copied one of our members on here and bought 100' of para cord. ($8.50 from Amazon). I've got it all wrapped up, but I'm unsure how to tie it off so that it won't come undone. Any suggestions?

Also, tried a criss-cross design along with non criss-cross, which do you think looks better?http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/09/18/vehymuda.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/09/18/se7uhesu.jpg

I like the non-crossed one better. Can't help with the tying off though.

Definitely the non-crossed.

One option for finishing the ends would be to use a pair of forceps and feed them through the last 5-10 loops, hook the loose ends to the forceps, pull them through and let the tightness of the wheel wrap hold them in place.

This is done a lot of times on the paracord bracelets and seems to hold up just fine.

Is that just wrapped all the way around? That would seem prone to problems, I would do single knots in each loop like this - http://www.instructables.com/id/paracord-steering-wheel-wrap/

I've got this thing wrapped so tight that I'm not sure I could get anything under it, but I'll try!

Yep, wrapped all the way around tight as a duck's butt. I like that knot style though. Unfortunately, I only bought 100 ft and don't have enough left to try again, and if I undo what's on there, it might not cover the wheel well enough. Worth a shot too, though.

Definitely no criss cross.. Sell Civic, buy another Jeep, steering wheel standard size for covers.. gas mileage is overrated anyways!! Lol

You can always cut the ends short and melt them to the other strands. Use the metal part on the lighter (or your finger) to push the molten paracord into place. Be careful not to burn your steering wheel though. :)

+2 on this. When I make paracord bracelets this is the way I manage the loose ends. I love this idea for a steering wheel wrap, the wheel in my Jeep suffers from the ooze problem so I may just try this!

I'll start a new post about this but I thought I'd post here first. The post that caused me to start thinking about doing this to my Jeep...

in the army we used a very tight knot. then cut. and use a lighter to melt the knot somewhat. push it down. never comes lose
