Rear Axle Hop

Hey everyone, I have an '89 4.0L 5spd. Completely stock drivetrain, but lifted 4.5" on 31s. My rear axle "hops" every time I start from first gear. It happened a little bit before the lift but the lift definitely made it worse. Again, this is only when starting from a stop, sometimes I can get it to go smoothly but it usually hops and shudders around. What is causing this? Is my rear driveshaft angle the problem? Do I need a rear CV deiveshaft?

Have you checked your U bolts to see if things are tight. Might be the housing rotating because they are not tight enough

Spring wrap?? What kind lift do you have?

I would also check out the transmission mount. It can get old and soft and start shaking when taking off from a stop.

Awesome I'll check out those culprits! Never heard of spring wrap—I have an add-a-leaf and shackles lift
