anyone know the wattage of the XJ headlight?
would that be same for an LED light as far as wattage?

just curious if i swapped out my headlights for led "offroad" lights and not blind people still.
i know i know. wouldnt be d.o.t. approved.

plus in the field i can leave my headlights on longer and not kill the battery as quick

I believe they are 55W, dictated by federal law

so would that translate to 55w in LED? not sure if they are on teh same level
55w led would be blinding

I swapped the standards on mine to LEDs with an H4 fitment (UK standard spec) they are WAY brighter than the Halogen 45/55w bulbs. The LEDs are 12.5/30w
If you go 55w LED you will need some way of all lightning them or you will blind folk. :) LEDs produce more lumens per watt than tungsten or halogen bulbs.

I run 88/110 watt bulbs. Still not as blinding as those blue/white lights. :P

Yeah I def liked my 85/110 Hella bulbs... but wouldn't mind running a similar output LED setup on my next build...

A 50w incandescant is exactly 8 watts in LED form. 35w is 6w and 20 is 4w. I woukdnt go above 8w for low beams. The light is alot more intense then a 55w incandescant. Make sure you get the right kelvin temp too. 3k+ gets whiter light as the number increases and lower as the number decreases ie 2500k is yellow aka soft white amd 6500k is a cool bright white. Im installing a low volt LED system on a house as I type this during the chicago rain delay

Yes to be safe from the fuzz atleast. I play with 12v-24v daily and also if your wattage falls blow 10 the LEDs will be your early warning system as they will dim down drastically. 10-18v is their threshold in low volt applications

I'd def have to be looking for an LED setup that is as close to 6k as possible... Especially since I run 6K HID's on my truck and my car, so would be nice to have similar light output on Jeep as well!!
