Hello fellow Xjers! I finally found some time this weekend to work on the Jeep again. I'm having an issue with the vents inside not working correctly. When I turn the blower motor on the only vent that seems to work is the defroster vent. They all worked before and nothing has changed under the dash. The only thing I can figure is it might have something to do with the vacuum canister I relocated a while back (re-connected this weekend). But everything there seems copacetic.

Anyone have any ideas to help me troubleshoot?

Yes sounds to me like a vacuum leak related to the canister. Check elbows and make sure they aren't dry rotted and check lines for cracks. Most of the issues I've had with mine have been at the elbows or butt connectors.

Yes, not enough vacuum to operate the vents

Do you guys know if there are any vacuum lines under the dash I should be concerned with or am I just checking lines under the hood?

Thanks for the help!

I'd start under the hood the problem will most likely be there.

Check the vacuum reservoir. They crack and leak. Located behind front bumper, passenger side

Thanks for the diagrams. I have a 94. Maybe im not reading it right but i don't see the reservoir in the bumper on there. Also the climate control and cruise just shows a dot. Is there not a hose that ties it in . If someone could provide some photos of their reservoir. Or even better a youtube video.

There is a small plastic hose that goes through the firewall near the heater hoses to the selector and one that comes out to the inline heater hose valve

I remember my brother in laws had that problem.about the same year as yours.turned out the hose from the canister was bad at a sleeve connector.he took it to dealer and they just cut part of the connector and charged him like 200.worked for a while and then stopped.i made a new connector from some fuel line(2.00$)and that fixed it till he traded it on his lj
