Saw this ad on Craigslist, figured what the hell why not toss an offer. Threw out a $400 offer and he said, "sure, why not!"

So now I've got a Wrangler. Figure my Cherokee may stay closer to stock now and I'll build the Wrangler since it obviously isn't running and the Cherokee is.

I figure if anything I can't part out the Wrangler, or sell it whole for more money.

Besides, with everyone else getting Wranglers to complement their XJs I felt left out. Found a couple of 4.0L around me, but I'm thinking of going bigger since it'll just be a trail rig. Just empty every pocket.

Now you have done it. :D

Sounds like a good project rig. I would have bought it if available. It will be fun to watch you do things with it. Did the winch come with it?

Yes sir. I figure if anything i could keep the winch, tires and rims as an extra, part out the hard top and doors, and tub, tcase, and transmission and have my money and extra parts. I really WANT to keep this one and do something with it. Find deals super cheap can sometimes be a burden. I know I can make quick money, but I need to keep something I buy! haha

Hardtop alone is worth $800 and up

$400???
That is amazing. Here, that Jeep, in that condition, would be sold for ~$10K.
Good luck with it. It looks good.

Awesome! Definitely a profit to be made if desired. Even with no engine i bet it could go for 3-4k. Congrats!

I bet you could still turn a profit shipping it there.

I do plan on putting a V8 in it. Toss up right now between LS2, LQ9, or...a Hemi. Leaning hard on an LQ9 with the 480LE. Thought about the 460LE as it is better in 1st, but not sure how well it would hold up over time.

I don't really feel the need to have this on the trail/road until late next spring, so I have a little time to save up for the right engine, tranny, and tcase. Still debating the tcase. my neighbor who builds Chevy mud trucks all the time has a wall in his pole barn with nothing but trannies and tcases. I am sure I will be able to find something in there I can use, getting it should only be a matter of taking him over a case of beer and trailer of scrap he can haul in.

Nice find! Like everyone else said, just the hard top is worth more than what you spent on it! How bad is the frame rot? I've noticed those TJs up north tend to get it pretty bad.
