I was thinking of getting one for the wife one of these days

I like it but it seems to have alot of extra stuff to go wrong curently it needs a transmission and a heater core, I have had it longer than my other jeeps and the XJ Reliabilty blows it away in my opinion.

The heater core would be a major problem. I have a wrecked one here and have not been able to get the dash out yet.

I was planning on haveing it done which is exetremly rare for me to do however after seeing what all is involved with it Im not interested in trying it in my driveway and now with the tranny acting up Im about ready to trade it off or something.

Which engine do you have?

The WJ is the 4.7 v8 which is stout motor and runs great.

Welcome to xjtalk! Mighty fine trio you have, and i'll admit envy is felt. That cj must be a tough one to survive a fire!

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

The WJ we have for a parts vehicle has that engine. We used it as a donor for a V8 in a TJ. Was yours reprogrammed to be a 5 speed instead of 4?

I wouldn't call the cj a survivor yet it is far from running it is currently striped to the frame and is on the back burner till I build my shop in a year or so. I believe the wj is still program as a four speed. I gotta say other than my local jeep club forum this is the most welcoming forum I have been on. Thanks!

The reprogram gives you an extra overdrive. Kind of steps into that more gradually. Or if you go with the 08 program, you end up with an extra gear that is .50. Pretty steep but I guess it gives you better milage

Yeah, but its savable! If it was one of these plastic things being made today it would have only been a frame left. Either way glad its being saved and when you do undertake the project post up the progress, we would love to see it.

Mudderoy (Tony) owner/operater of the forum and Co-host of the podcast is also a ham radio guy, infact he is who got me into it.

Take care buddy.
