what a freakn nightmare.
this jeep belongs to a fella from church. trying to help him out.
94 ZJ 4.0L AT 2wd 155k miles
(current motor was a replacement, old motor gave up on him with 180k miles)
his gas gauge doesnt work. he just filled up day before.
on teh way to church his jeep died(ironicaly as he pulls in)
tow truck brought gas. 2gallons. still nothing.
nxt day i check spark. very very little spark.
dizzy cap and rotor are very old and corroded.
plugs looked good(were changed about 10k miles ago)
started right up with some gas pedal. ran perfectly fine for 15 minutes.
then died. wouldnt start ???
he has plenty of spark now.
battery is charged
checked codes and i get a 12 which is hebrew for nothing wrong.
seafoamed intake mani and fuel tank.
google says CPS crank position sensor.
i go to autozone $68 for a new one.
replaced. still nothing. (meaning it cranks, just no start up)
returned it.
put old one back in...try again..starts.....:rolleye0018::confused:
pulled fuel injectors. they are dirty. i cleaned them. each one clicks and sprays fuel....:confused:
fuel pump primes and there is fuel pressure.
hard starting. struggles to start then wants to die like it has a very bad vacuum leak or no fuel
it has fuel and spark. dizzy is clean. pump primes
no CELs.
it cant be the PCM. (computer) because there is fuel. computer controls fuel pump,.
when i first got there his belt was terrible. while trying to start it came apart and flopped everyhwere almost cutting my face off.
put a new belt on now also.
has proper amount of clean oil. has plenty of gas..
