Are kits with rear coils worth the extra $1000? I am going with just a long arm kit and not a 4 link. I am trying to figure out if this would be a good way to go in order to somewhat prepare myself down the road for a 4-link setup. I'm just not completely sure what all benefits I would have to having coils in the back and whether or not it is completely necessary.

Depends, I have rear coils and love them! They flex better and ride better but don't carry the weight and are not as strong as leafs

Carry what weight? I'm not putting a skid of salt in the back. Is think it would have more weight up front in the front than back and they keep coils up front stock.

Strength wise are you meaning they wear and sag quicker?

What I mean by weight is all the camping gear, wheeling gear, extra fuel, in my case the long range tank, roll bar. Stuff like that, as for strength, there are more moving components to the springs, it's hard to beat a leaf for simplicity.

Are you on long arms or 4-link? Any idea about how much weight you run with in the back? As for not handling it well. Does it make the coils break down quicker, or just not ride as smooth? Won't take much to improve the ride quality I have now.

I have a 3-link front with 4-link rear, check out my build thread on here, the extra weight compresses the springs more, they are designed for stock weight, just makes the rear squat more, I have added a 2" spacer to level it off.

I have a rear link in the plans too. Is it worth it? I think so if you are wanting ultimate performance.
