When buying wheels, how do I know what my backspacing is?

Here's an image that will illustrate it. You basically measure to distance from the wheel mounting surface to the inside lip of the wheel.

if you have 5" backspacing its almost like stock.
backspacing and offset are basicaly teh same thing just different terms of measurement.
i just bought steel wheels with 3" back spacing(BS) which means they will stick out farther.
