XJ talk due to rust and my want to fit 31" tires with no to minimal lift. I need to trim my fenders! please vote to were I should trim to. I will be making fender flairs some thing like this (link). (http://imgur.com/a/UvuPd)

Black line is the least trimming I will do to get all the rust off.

Red is aprx 1.25" above that.

Silver is about 2" above the black line.

Please give me some feed back either way.

Black line is all you will need. I have run 31s on stock wheels and flairs with no lift and only rubbed very slightly in the rear at full stuff

I agree with 4.3LXJ on the black line. I'm on 2"of lift with 31s and no trimming, stock flares. Front only rubs at full stuff with the sway bar unhooked. I'll be trimming and will go about where your black line is.

I think it looks dumb to trim way more than you need to clear. Makes it look like the tires are too small.

I agree with the black line. Besides you trim too much and it gets expensive. You'll see that extra room in there and want to throw bigger tires on it!

Those are the style fender flares I think in going to go with as well.

I voted silver, but red is where mine is, I think*. I say do it once and be done with it. not a big job, but kinda tedious. And yes, you will be able to stuff bigger tires at that line.

I think it looks great at the RED line.
