So I recently replaced the starter b/c it was caked in oil. It sounds like it wants to turn over, but nada. I just put in fuel this morning. Ran a few errands.
Any ideals. It's hotter than satans anus out too.

I'm pretty sure my fuel pump is shot!

can you hear the pump prime up before you crank it over?

The cps is always suspect in these cases in my opinion. But not sure it could make it stall.

A quick way to check if it could be the problem, next time you stall, lift the hood and pour a bottle of water down behind the manifold onto the CPS. She should start right up.

You getting any codes ??

If your 99 still has a distributor ... you might want to add the cam sensor/plate, in it, to the list of checks.

Listen for fuel pump / check pressure at rail,

... but the crank sensor is the usual culprit.

Crank Position Sensor. I agree probably the problem. The Camshaft Position Sensor is usually referred to CKS IIRC

Y'all were right. It was the sensor. And heed warning. That thing sux to replace. Just did it. Not remotely enjoyable to do. For future folks. Don't go to autozone for the part. Go to NAPA. I got a Duralast part and it hardly fit. And $97 later. I shouldn't complain. My OEM unit had 340,012 miles on it.
I'm most bumbed out about being a shitty parent today. I really sucked.
So I'd like to thank y'all. I really do appreciate it. Thank You!

Good to see its up and running again ..

... and yes ... its a fun job .. :D

You would think that if they wanted to use a sensor type - that hates hot, dirty environments,

... they could have at least put the damned thing - in a more accessible spot ..

'tis a right royal pain in the ars.............

Glad you got back on the road.

I'm with Carves. But I reckon the designers shoulda put the sensor on the OTHER side. Away from the damned headers. :( or on the front....:)

Cheers
