will most parts swap between these years? engine, tranny, trans. case? ecm and controls?
Thanks for any input.

Shouldn't be much of a problem. People swap the older heads into the newer 0331 xj's, as well as people swapping the intake from the 99+ into older, etc.

The '00 had the coil pack (distributorless) ignition too, although not exactly sure how far that comes into play with the computer and all.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

There is a change in the ECM with the change in distributor. So yes, the ECM and style of head will have to match, along with the correct distributor if you are going to use one. I have heard that block on the 00 - 01 can accept a distributor, but I have not verified that and you would have to verify the camshaft has the distributor gear on it before doing that. So I will say at this point, the 00 and up short block will not swap either. But you can swap heads. Make sure you use the proper injectors that match the fuel pump and ECM also

thanks, im picking up a very reasonably priced, and in good condition 00, and would like to find a couple of spare late model xj's for parts.
