I could be very wrong, but I'm thinking without finding a 4wd trans to pull parts from... it won't be possible.. I know usually the 2wd versions are longer to make up for the room where the TC would be, and the 2wd's usually don't have the mounting surface for the TC to the trans in the first place, they usually have the tail shaft housing for the DS to slid into..

Here is a pic showing you the difference and what I was talking about...

Too bad I didn't know you were looking for a 4WD AX15 before I headed down to SC in May for leave, there was a guy selling one up here in DE (unfortunately sold now) that I could have snagged and brought down...

LOL.. I was surprised to see he hasn't chimed in on this one myself.. He would have better insight I think on what would be required to convert... I'm just going by the knowledge of other trans going to 4wd, and by what I see in that pic I posted.. Looks like you have to separate the case prior to the shift selector and the rear behind that portion has to be swapped to a 4wd version.. Oh and on top of that IIRC, the 4WD trans has a 23spline output shaft to go into the 231J TC that the 2WD won't have inside..

Ding ding ding

C'mon, give me a break. Actually to convert it you need the tail housing and swap out the main shaft. The 4WD shaft is shorter and has a different rear spline count

No break needed, we just know you know what's up most of the time.. so we were expecting to see your very helpful input.. No negativity to it... at least not on my part!! I appreciate all the input I can get when I'm researching..
