I am interested in installing a aftermarket headlight kit on my '96 cherokee classic. The kit is designed for '97-'01 model xjs. Is there a big wiring difference or easy fix to install? this is the kit

Can it be done? Yew. But I think you will run into trouble with connectors. If you are willing to do some splicing it should work. However I am not sure about the header panel. Might be some differences there in mounting. I think the best thing to do is contact them and ask

Good luck on the contacting that company.. I've contacted them three of four times about headlights for my Ram with pretty much no reply... And the one reply I got was completely useless... I would say as far as wiring these lights up you should be fine, as the headlight bulb connection is the same on the 96 and the 97+... the LED's are probably just wires that you splice in anyways, so that won't matter what your wiring is since the connector won't matter..guess the only thing I can see that you might have an issue with is the two bulbs below the headlamp, and the surround as the surround is different between the 96 & the 97+...

Fit a pair of these and the jobs done.
Check US eBay they should come up, there available in most fitment types. I have the H4 version in mine, nice clean blue/white light instead of standard orange headlights, and a straight bulb swap. :)

I like those CREE headlights... Wish our XJ's had the headlight assemblies front eh factory that you could install those in, without having to spend more money on new housings as well.. Might have to look into picking up a set of the CREE LED's and housings for my next XJ.. I loved the 80/100w bulbs w/ Hella H4 housings and the full wiring upgrade I had in my 98.. So I can only imagine how much nicer those same housings with the CREE LED upgrade would be..

Top was taken before the 31s where fitted. The headlight assemblies need replacing as the driver side is rusting, but they are easy and cheap to pick up new in the UK. :)

I highly recommend the LMC GM Truck harness upgrade and Sylvania headlights. You can go with other lights, up to 100 watts each with that harness.

I bought a set and when I went to install them I found out my headlights dont have a housing. Its a sealed bulb and light. Is there anything I can do to make this work?

Yes, you need H4 housings. I have a set in my XJ. I think Hella makes the best with near projector like pattern and all glass

Yes. All the xj cherokees use the same headlight so no worries about getting the wrong one.

You'll probably need to search US eBay for left hand drive versions.
