Well, we finally got it. We have been planning to get a XJ since last fall. We sold my wife's car last week and have bought the 1991 I posted some questions about awhile back that my neighbor had. It has 211,000 miles, and is manual. It has the D35, :o but that can be an easy fix if it causes problems down the road.

Truck is very straight, and has no rust. Very clean underneath. Amazingly so. Still has all the undercoating! It has a small lift with 31"s. I'll post up more pics over the weekend, but here are a couple just to show it for now. I'll probably be posting some of the lift so you guys can help me figure out just what I have.

Tidy looking unit for an oldy ... well done ..

Lift looks about 2" by the pics ... and a bit saggy in the rear .. ;);)

Stock measurements from the centre of the wheel cap to the bottom of the wheel arch flare are...

Front .... 17.5"
Rear ..... 17"

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the D35 too much ... unless you are going to treat it like a chryco 8.25 or Dana44 .. ;);)

Wow! You guys are active at 0200!

I'll get some better pictures this weekend, but it is really straight. It does have a little of the peeling clear coat, but it is a '91!

Not too worried about the 35. I am not hard on my equipment. As for plans for it, they will be somewhat conservative for awhile. It was actually my wife's idea to get it. We have a large family and large dog, and we like to go wheeling, so our main rig is the H2 sitting beside it. We are one of the few who actually wheel a H2. Anyway, wife decided she wants to learn to drive off road, but does not really like driving the big H2. Our boys are also getting close to being ready to start driving too. She figured a smaller sized 4x4 SUV would be good for her and them to learn in, and what fits that better than a XJ? Most of the time it will be her grocery getter/kid hauler, and I'll use it for errands. Basically we'll drive it any time we don't have to fit the whole family or tow something heavy. So I can't get too crazy. Eventually it will probably go to one of the boys until they buy their own vehicle, and then it will start transforming more to the trail rig end of things. In the mean time we'll be hitting trails with it as is.

Well, I've done a few things to it so far. Replaced passenger side motor mount and transmission mount. I have a set of Moog upper control arm bushings on the way. I need to pull one of the lower ones off and measure the bushings so I can order new ones for them too.

Today I put a new Walker Sound Fit muffler on it. It had a good one on it, but just too loud and too much drone! Funny how things change when you get older! 10-15 years ago probably would have loved it! Now, I LOVE this Walker! Very mellow.

Not sure what the old one was. Looks like a Flowmaster, but I can't find one with the number that's on it. Googling the number only shows a Walker Sound FX. But mine is an all welded heavy duty, not crimped sheet metal. This is what came out:

I'll probably wire wheel it and clean it up, and put it on Craigslist or something.

Yep... I am most of the time... I'm usually more of a night walker and a day sleeper for some reason... Oh wait, maybe cause it's what I did at work for most of my career so far... Then again I was like that before joining the AF too... Not sure why...
