I need to replace my entire Air Conditioning unit under the hood. I have an 1988 Cherokee Base 4.0. What years will interchange with the original?

I believe only the Renix era parts will work on yours. I can't remember the exact years, I think it's 87-90

Safe to say that. I know the compressor and hoses are specific to those years. Condenser and dryer not as sure but either finding a donor or ordering sticking to those years shouldn't be a problem.

The coils, dryer, and at least some hoses are the same for a few of the OBDI years. I think the compressor may be different. To be sure, check to see if there is a large brass block with a hat on it at the fire wall

'88 was before obd2 and obd1.

Sorry about the typo. i meant OBDI The brass block I referred to is the TXV. That indicates an R12 system. If you have one, most of the stuff will be the same.

Okay, no problem. I just know from looking at my '92 versus my brothers '90 the compressor is different. And they were both r12. ;)

Yes, Chrysler changed the compressor. However I think everything else interchanges
