On my way in to work today. my beloved 96 stalled without warning or a cough. Before I can put in neutral and coast to the shoulder it sprang back to life.
Later when I stopped at a light it stalled again, but started right up.
temp was just shy of 210 where it always is.
Oil pressure was at 20/40 like it always is.
Volts just under 14. ( I was running A/C)
No CEL light. but when I do the key trick I get code 11
So what do you guys think? Crank position sensor? I'm about 4 years on one from autozone.

Either the crankshaft position sensor or the throttle position sensor is my opinion. Test those to see. Odd are the cps but worth a look.

you forgot what astrological time it is??? The planets are in such a position that Jupiter and Uranus are causing a magnetic sputter field! Must have been amplified for you with the foil hat and all...

Watch out for next month... Venus will be causing havoc on our cooling systems

Made it home without incident.

TPS tested good. I'm not too sure how to test the CPS. I pulled it off any way and waiting for the dealership to open.

Bonus points for using "Uranus" and "sputter" in the same sentence.
Thanks guys

AutoZone cps was $74
the dealer was 79
The dealer is 20 minutes away but it's near one of my favorite restaurants Tenders

So the jeep is up and running and I have a full belly

Is there a way to test the CPS to know if it's bad?

Thanks @mudderoy. I couldn't tell from the thread if he actually got the issue resolved though. When I get home I'm going to be in the garage a lot. Here's my short list of work that had to get done.
Wife's Suburban:
Brake job
Install new stereo
Install reverse camera
Full tune up

Trailer:
Needs 4 tires and a tune up

XJ:
Needs to run
Needs muffler and new cat

My wallet is going to hate me....

Sorry Dan. Sometimes it hard for me to clearly type what's going on in my head.
Yes, A new crank position sensor fixed it.

I didn't know how to test it at the time so I just replaced it.

OEM Mopar replacement was just a few dollars more then the Chinese made auto part store ones.

With a "TO DO" list that short are you sure your married?

That's just the To Do list of stuff that I actually care about and plan to do.

Crank sensor no doubt. Same symptoms I was having! Lucky you, such a cheap and easy fix.

Edit: Just noticed you said that fixed it. There's really no way to test a faulty crank sensor unless you actually catch it messing up which is nearly impossible.
