So I thought I would just let people know what I use and see what yall have to say!
My XJ is getting older at 207,000 miles and think I have got my money out of it.
I figure $16,000 used with 28,000 miles
$3500 in repairs over the years
$19,500 rounded up to $20,000 bucks overall. 14 years old is $1428 a year to own it. If I really can make it to 300K then I will be very happy. I've never been to 300K, and why get rid of a perfectly good running paid for vehicle!
I just used the high mileage Valvoline Dex/Merc high mileage tranny oil. I drained what was in the pan. Replaced it with this red bottle fluid. I also added about 1/3 of the bottle of the transmission lube. My transmission has never shifted this smooth in 14 years. Wow. It's wonderful. It's smooth going from park to reverse and park to drive and when shifting while driving. Wonderful. Just amazing. I wish I would have used it in the system 200K ago.
I also will add the marvel mystery oil in every other oil change. Not sure if it makes a difference but I think it runs well because of it.
I would like to add that when the gas prices break $4 dollar this jeep will become the backup/camping/ bad weather vehicle. It sure will be nice to work on it and let it sit and come back to it later since it won't be my main transportation. I'm getting a corolla in the spring 40 MPG.
