Looks like a pretty capable rig, but at least in my opinion for an XJ to be worth $9500 it should be immaculate. Even here in FL where Jeeps in general go for more $$$, I think the owner would be lucky to get $5k.

Step one: Meet a girl named Dorothy and her dog.
Step two: Sing a song that after each verse says "If I only had the cash".
Step three: Meet a wizard.
Step four: Profit.

Looks like a fairly nice rig setup... Not sure the AMC 20 is a whole lot better then a Turdy-5.. But still looks like it'd be a nice rig to wheel & replace/upgrade as things break... Now I don't agree with the $9k for it... but as said above $5k might not be too bad of an asking price.. I hate folks that try and get what they put into something out of it...

yup. kinda like upping a boat price by 5K cause it has a decent stereo system.

From what I have read (and you know everything you read online is true) is that an AMC 20 with one piece shafts are pretty strong, usually comparable to the Dana 44. Apparently the Ring and Pinion of the AMC 30 is slightly larger than the 44s and they have 29 splines vs the Dana 44s 30 splines. Weak link in the AMC 20 is the tubes.

I am sure someone with more experience will chime in... and likely correct me.

Also, the two piece axles, like the D44 two piece axles are weak. I bent both of mine at once on my CJ5

This is exactly what I've read, if you beef up the tubes and replace with one-piece shafts they are fairly comparable to the Dana44. I've also read that the center section of the HMMWV shares the majority of its components with the center section in the AMC 20.
