Does anyone know of any brand/modification that we can do to install these piviot points in the wiper blade arm?

It would be nice to not have to hold the blade while changing it or cleaning the windshield.

Well, not exactly but there is a little tab that slides out so you can remove the wipe arm itself. I just slide it out enough to hold the arm up or even just pull off the whole arm to deal with it.

Sent via messenger pigeon - i talk, he types.

They should all bend there just so they can accommodate the changes due to the curve of the windshield. But are you talking of the ones you can flip up and stay up?

I'm not sure how you will find the info, but you will have to search a parts book that gives all the stats on these and match the mounting and length of arm. Good luck on that one. I know I don't have access to that info

What about the 'other' Cherokee? Do the Grands have the flip up and are they really that different from ours?

The ones on my Grand won't stay up without help.

Be interesting to see how Patriot arms fit... though I think the windshield is much larger

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 because my microwave couldn't do it

So I noticed that the rear blade arm stays up on its own. Can you put two of those up front?

All the wipers i have seen like the one you posted in the pic, are held down with a nut in the center. So it would seem that you could use those, you would just have to find one with the same spline count, and drill and tap a hole in the center of the wiper shaft.

I gave my wipers arms and blades to a guy who I worked with and was good with metal fabbing. He was fired 4 days later and never returned them. I had to buy brand new arms and blades. I gave up after that.

Ive thought about this too.Took a trip to the yard couldnt find anything so grabbed extra set off xj. Okay here goes,at the pivot point of the arm is a tab that keeps the arm from folding back. Now a little grinding will take care of that.Next problem is the wire "loop" that is connected to the spring doesnt isnt long enough to let the spring stretch enough.Im currently trying to find a substitute loop that will give me enough flex and still keep the arms down on the windshield. will let all know how this progresses......

Bummer, I did find these (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Jeep/Cherokee/Replacement/Wiper_Arm/2000/Sport/6_Cyl_4-dot-0L/J370707-PLK.html?loc=Front%2C+Driver+And+Passenger+Side) this morning and the look like they have the spring loaded joints in them. But if you pull one off and go to your local yard and look at mini vans I suspect you'd find some replacements in a few minutes. It's just a matter of length and fastener configuration. Not sure why this wasn't a standard option in the first place. I plan to figure this one out as I too have issues with these dumb versions.

Wiper arms like the ones in the OP are standard fitment on ALL UK vehicles, and have been for as far back as I can remember. Odd how something so basic changes depending on the country.

Funny thing is when I had my 98, I hated fighting with the wipers... especially when the winter time came... You know how hard it is to hold the wiper blade up while scrapping the snow and ice off a windshield on an XJ with 7.5+" of lift... while trying not to slip on the ice yourself... it's a massive PITA... guess now that I have another XJ.. it's time to get back to trying to figure something out... Look forward to seeing what others work out, as my search will be a slow one since I'm hardly ever in the states...

Seems that I remember someone getting arms off of a late 90's GM truck and they fit. I have not done the research on this or tried it but if someone has time it may be worth a try....

honda civics are like that at least the 92-95. could always use one or 2. cut and weld to make longer or shorter.
